Over the last few years, Singapore’s popularity as a tourism destination has increased tremendously due to better air connectivity, aggressive marketing and promotion as well as new and exciting tourist attraction such as the Singapore Flyer and Integrated Resorts. Hotel industry has espeacially benefited from the overall growth of the tourism sector, reflecting positive demand for manpower.
Retail
The vibrant food & beverage and retail industry have made Singapore a leading shopping capital in Asia-Pacific, the performance of which is closely tied to increased tourist numbers. Projects like Marina Bay Link Mall, South Beach, Asia Square and Specialists’ Center will add more retail space and food & beverage offerings. The retail industry is expected to continue to be to bright, translating into many more employment opportunities.
Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions And Exhibitions (MICE), Tour and Travel
The MICE industry is constantly improving itself with the aim to strengthen Singapore’s position as a leading convention and exhibition city in Asia. MICE companies are looking to hire for position such as Business Development Manager and Event/ Exhibition Organizers.
The tour & travel industry forms the cogs of the tourism sector with about 800 licensed travel agents in the tour & travel industry, providing myriad travel products and services. The outlook of the travel industry is optimistic, contributed by the economic recovery. In addition, the proliferation of low cost carriers, travel promotions, and promotions by foreign tourism boards will entice locals to travel.
