Companies in Romania are building massively both homes and offices, so the industry needs specialists, from engineers and architects to site workers. At the same time, real estate agents will be in great demand this year.
The residential buildings’ segment is doing quite well: the volume of works there expanded by 36% versus the 2007 benchmark. In contrast, the volume of civil engineering works contracted by 28% in the 12-month period, versus 2007. The non-residential buildings segment posted a moderate 7.1% advance.
Infrastructure and residential construction are predicted to drive the revival of the Romanian construction sector in the future, with growth forecast at an annual rate of 2.0% in 2018, 3.8% in 2019 and 5.4% in 2020.
The number of enterprises in the broad construction sector in Romania totalled 82,232 in 2014. Companies in the narrow construction sector accounted for 58.1% of the total, followed by real estate activities (16.8%), architectural and engineering activities (16.2%) and manufacturing (8.8%).
