My job′s main responsibilities involve developing and maintaining models (VaR, PV01, capital charge calculation models) for market risk management (MRM) in the bank, establishing MRM framework (policy, procedure, monitoring and reporting) under requirements of regulatory authorities and international standards (i.e. Basel II).
The advice which I wish someone told me when I was fresh graduate is that: Let′s spend your time to really understand the nature of whatever job you want to get into and find its meaning before really jumping into it. "Why you do it" is more important than "What you do" or even "How to do it". Every job is boring to some extent and you will go through a lot of ups and downs during your career, so the meaning of the job or "Why you do it" is the one that makes you keep going forward rather than giving up.
I think I got it because I have experiences related directly to the job and understand what is required to fulfill it.
