Highest level of internal IT support available. Look after servers and business / manufacturing applications hosted on them (e.g. MSSQL, Oracle, Oracle Hyperion, Windows File Clusters, Networking equipment, HP Data Protector, MS Exchange, etc.). I am part of the team that looks after all of the servers, the computer network, and all of the computer workstations. We also build new servers / deploy new business applications. It′s challenging and somewhat scary at times, but you get to learn a lot about new technologies.

BSc Management Information Systems, Hons MSc Business Admin (IT) I don′t think the specific course matters, just as long as you have something vaguely related. 1 year as a web developer 2 years as consumer hardware support in Dell 2 years as a windows / backup support agent in HP.

Get a good degree, to prove that you can learn/document, and that you understand the relevant terms in use at your future workplace. Get some practical experience, even if it means doing it as a hobby at home. Note down what you have accomplished in the field, to show to your prospective employer. Keep a large network of contacts, as some of the best jobs may not be advertised publicly.
