I’m working as a Client Executive right now for Primed Agency. My work is not directly related to my degree however I can definitely apply some of what I learnt to my day-to-day work. Our agency works with Amazon, and I have to handle Seller accounts through the back end, meaning I need to check their daily sales and see what I can do to help them improve. It’s great to work with Amazon and see how things operate there behind the scenes.
I enjoy working with clients and looking through their accounts to see how I can help improve their brand. When I was at UWE, I took modules in Advanced Web Development, so when I’m working with clients and assessing their stores, I often think of ways to support their work. I then take these ideas to my manager, and we discuss options before moving ahead. I love having creative freedom and having daily interactions with my clients.
My boss is a UWE alumnus, and I got the job through connecting with him on LinkedIn. I was actively trying to connect with fellow alumni to find job opportunities after I graduated and happily my current boss reached out to me and offered me an opportunity to work in this industry.
I’d recommend that people network and connect with as many people as possible on platforms like LinkedIn. People don’t usually mind if you reach out and in my experience most people are only too happy to respond to questions.
I also suggest making friends with people from the UK because they can help you find opportunities and open unexpected doors. I’d also tell people to take advantage of UWE’s Careers Service. They helped me tailor my CV to the UK context in just a few one-to-one sessions. Careers sessions can help teach people about different working cultures and norms, so I recommend taking advantage of the free service at UWE.
