I am responsible for the department of ICT and Computer Science, the following is a brief overview of what my role entails:

- explaining and analysing data where necessary
- carrying out lesson observations where need be
- supporting my team by making sure all ICT equipment is up to date and available
- holding department meetings.
- making sure that the correct curriculum is taught and it is in compliant with the UAE education laws
- having a teaching timetable and the usual teaching responsibilities.
- attending to the needs of the department as a whole and specific department members where needed.
- supporting my staff by encouraging and authorising relevant CPD
- Taking part in CPD myself - to widen my knowledge of my job role and beyond.

Next to health, education is one of the most important professions you can be a part of. If you choose to work in a educational institution such as a school or college, it is almost guaranteed that no one day will be the same as the other. So it is important that you strive to be an inspiration to those trusted in your care and you open yourself to be inspired in return. You must have thick skin to handle the many challenging personalities that you may come across. The welfare and education of the youth must be a high priority in your life and beliefs. Prepare yourselves so that you are adaptable to change and new circumstances. Train your organisational skills as this will help you to have a healthy work life balance. Allow yourself to be challenged so that you may grow and don't be afraid to make mistakes, understand that failure is a part of life and you can only learn from that. Most of all, regardless of the temporary pitfalls that you may come across, enjoy what what you do with a great amount of passion.

I had a fair bit of experience as a teacher and but none as subject leader. My subject knowledge was coherent. However for me skills where probably at the forefront, for the reason in attaining this role, I have listed below the main skills and qualities that I feel helped me attain this role:
