Business Development Officer
Job Description & Qualifications
The job holder will be responsible for; new business sales, customer retention and premium collections in the distribution channels and target markets assigned to them.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive and implement strategic initiatives assigned the supervisor.
- Adhere to the processes and procedures set out by the company across all departments.
- Ensure intermediaries of assigned channel(s) are regularly and adequately trained on Britam’s Life Insurance products and processes.
- Have adequate on-ground activities to support intermediaries build a robust list of prospects.
- Develop, grow, and maintain a sales pipeline and prepare a weekly report on the same submitted to the supervisor.
- Support assigned intermediaries with prospect/client presentations, preparation of tender documents and/or closing of business/accounts.
- Communicate and aggressively market approved sales competitions/incentives to assigned intermediaries.
- Acquire new business through assigned distribution channel and intermediaries.
- Provide support and service to assigned intermediaries to ensure that the following are carried out;
- Quotations, Pricing, Underwriting & Onboarding are completed within the set TATs.
- Schemes/Accounts are renewed on time.
- Premium is collected on or before the due date.
- Policyholders/Customers receive excellent after sales service.
- Receiving and responding to enquires and complaints.
- Hold and document regular service review meetings with the intermediaries assigned to you and submit the reports to your supervisor.
- Ensure effective handovers to the various Operations Teams is done effectively and in a timely manner.
- Grow the productivity (or the number) of assigned intermediaries selling Life Insurance products.
- Grow the number of schemes/accounts (or customers) for the Life Insurance Business.
- Prepare monthly reports on personal performance to the supervisor.
- Delegated Authority: As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix
- Set monthly, quarterly, and annual targets aligned with company goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, banks, brokers, Financial Advisors and other stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Address customer concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner to maintain and enhance the company’s reputation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Prepare and submit quarterly board performance reports.
- Keep abreast of industry regulations, sales techniques, and market developments to make informed decisions.
Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:
- Bachelors’ degree (Preferably in a business-related field).
- Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII, IIK) or equivalent.
- 2-4 years’ relevant experience in the insurance industry.
