About the Job 

The Nigerian cement market has changed from an undersupplied to a highly competitive over-supplied market. Competition is gaining incremental market share through delivery reliability and speed to market. LAP’s Depot strategy is designed to drive flexibility and reliability in line with customer need to ensure we are winning at trade. With the incremental volume expected from the Depot, it shows the need for a versatile Depot manager whose profile is able to handle the requirements.
The Depot Scheduler is to organise and plan so that trucks run efficiently and on time. The role holder schedules trucks on a daily basis to ensure that deliveries to customers are completed quickly and efficiently. The main challenge is to deliver below 12 hours at the right cost to serve, in a healthy, safe and controlled environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure compliance with LAP Workplace Heath, Safety and Environnement polices, procedures and other regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with all Depot Managers to ensure adequate stock for target dispatch
  • Ensure that the principle of FIFO is followed in dispatch process at all the depots.
  • Ensure physical stock corresponds with DR1 - DR6, HODIM, LOGON and SAP reports every month
  • Transport scheduling for outbound deliveries in line with customer expectation and the customer service level policy (CSLP).
  • Vehicle and Driver allocation in line with the depot Manager’s recommendation and the Operating Company (OpCo) logistics safety policy
  • Ensure LMAPP compliance by scheduling only PDA compliant drivers
  • Be responsible for delivering all scheduling KPIs, and making  LOGON reports available as required
  • Proactively identify potential operational issues at all times and escalate to LOGON SPOC
  • Be responsible for compiling all orders status in LOGON yet to be on finished to all depot managers for close out
  • Ensure that all BCP orders done during the month, are duly dispatched and closed out in the system on or before the end of the month
  • Sharing daily of depot stock level with planner

Heath and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with LAP Workplace Heath, Safety and Environnement polices, procedures and other regulatory requirements
  • Reporting of Unsafe Acts and Unsafe Conditions and at Risk behaviour on icare.

Stock Management

  • Comfirm all depot have adequate stock for daily target dispatch 
  • Ensure that the principle of FIFO is adhered to for direct delivery dispatch from the depot
  • Ensure physical stocks correspond with the book and system stocks balance all the time.
  • Managing stock levels to ensure stock availabity of the right product type at all time.

Sales Drive & Competitive Intelligence

  • Schedule daily dispatch target including resolving barriers to meet target 
  • Liaise with Customer service and sales managers on availability of order in the pool to meet dispatch targets
  • Collaborate with the transport manager and planning managers on the right stock level at the right time 
  • Drive >95% on time delivery of orders as regards scheduling

Cost and Control

  • Drives 100% adherence to business continuity plan standard procedure
  • On time scheduling
  • Ensure utilization of depot strategic trucks

Reporting

  • Structured information and report shared regularly as per direction
  • Weekly and Monthly report and reconciliation in line with standard

What we are looking for 

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar role 
  • BSc – Science or Business Administration, Accounting, Purchasing & Supply or Economics
  • Logistics Capability
  • Warehousing Management
  • SAP and knowledge of systems
  • Product Knowledge
  • MS Office and Excel  
  • Knowledge of basic construction practices
  • Selling skills
