Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position: Backup Dispatcher

Shift: 7/7 - day and night shifts

Position Reports To: Dispatch Supervisor & Mine Operations Sr. Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for a highly motived team member who will step in and support the Dispatch Supervisor in the absence of the crew Dispatcher. The dispatcher is the single point of contact to coordinate and optimize use of the Ore Handling Mobile Equipment Fleet; particularly the ore haul trucks and support equipment (grader, dozer, etc.). 

*Internal applicants will be given priority. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate company safety values and protocols through positive leadership.
  • Validate delays and down codes based on time usage model.
  • Monitor fleet utilization, advise Production Supervisors on possible improvements.
  • Planning & executing continuous operation of haul fleet by managing operator breaks.
  • Planning daily line ups.
  • Support the Production Supervisors achieve targets set out in the daily plan.
  • Housekeeping and maintaining clean work area.
  • Manipulate schedules to ensure both mine & maintenance plans are followed.
  • Coordinating & prioritizing equipment repairs with the maintenance team.
  • Monitor schedules and advise Production supervisors of any gaps.
  • Populate daily reports, for supervisors, Gfs, and Superintendent.
  • Monitor equipment utilization against targets and adjust as required.
  • Monitor crusher feed and adjust fleet destinations to optimize throughput.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suit (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Fleet Management System experience preferred, such as Wenco, Excel, SharePoint, and Mine Distribution Control Systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge and familiarity with mining equipment processes.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong interest in continuous improvement.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task, adapt, and prioritize contending demands.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to different work schedules, including night shifts and extended hours during emergency respons.
  • Must be willing and able to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start of the 7 AM/PM shift to properly prepare for operations.
  • Internal candidates must be willing and able to transition to another rotation if required.
