Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
 
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario  The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Ontario communities. About The Role

Schedule: 14 days in, 14 days off – 12-hour days

Position Reports To: Senior Mine Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and improve procedures and practices for survey data collection
  • Provide up to date surveys in pit, roads, dumps and stockpiles
  • Marking out drill holes for drills in a timely and safe manner
  • Ensure survey data is compiled into correct formats and stored in proper data bases and filing systems
  • Importing and editing surveys on appropriate software programs
  • Perform wall scans and drone surveys using multi-station and both fixed wing and quad copter drones
  • Marking out lines on uneven blast rock for ore control
  • Marking out design lines/limits for pit and dump construction
  • Provide grade checks for loading units and dozers
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to HSE practices, policies and procedures including risk assessment
  • Perform engineering and construction surveys as and when required

Qualifications

  • Preferably 1-2 years of experience working in a mining or construction setting
  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, Access
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities
  • Fit and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Completion of a two-year Mining Technology Diploma or other relevant Engineering Diploma or a combination of education and experience may also be considered.
