Capital Projects – Associate

Are you passionate about helping clients address critical business challenges and drive meaningful change? Join our Infrastructure and Capital Projects (I&CP) team, where industry expertise, innovation, and specialized knowledge empower clients to make the best decisions for their businesses.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with clients to tackle mission-critical questions like, “How can we complete major infrastructure projects on time and within budget?” and “How can we leverage new technologies to improve the construction process?” If you’re seeking an opportunity to create value, minimize client risk, and grow both personally and professionally, consider a career with Deloitte’s I&CP practice.

We seek candidates who can translate client needs and objectives into actionable work plans and deliver impactful results. As part of our client service teams, you will work on key tasks with oversight and guidance, contributing to client success.

The work you will do:

  • Assist clients in making strategic decisions that align with their organizational goals.
  • Provide end-to-end support throughout the full development lifecycle, helping clients plan, manage, and control their projects.
  • Build structures, systems, and controls that enable clients to confidently deliver capital projects.
  • Leverage construction analytics to turn data into actionable insights, enabling clients to make efficient and effective decisions.
  • Help clients build and enhance governance, increase accountability, and improve transparency throughout the asset development and management lifecycle.
  • Offer financial advisory support in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and financial restructurings.
  • Assess capital project programs, construction management processes, controls, and project risk.
  • Contribute to team problem-solving efforts and provide ideas for solving client challenges.
  • Continuously develop consulting skills and professional expertise through training, mentoring, and daily client interactions.

About the I&CP Practice:

The I&CP practice is a market leader in providing end-to-end solutions across the entire development value chain. Our services include organizational setup and governance, capital expenditure (capex) prioritization and optimization for portfolios, programs, and projects, as well as support in master planning and design management. We help clients plan and execute supply chain and procurement strategies, oversee construction management, and drive asset development. Our offerings also cover portfolio and project health checks, contract and claim reviews, project controls, change management, risk management, dispute resolution, and project support and monitoring. We serve a broad range of industries, including real estate, infrastructure, transportation, and energy.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in development, construction, or infrastructure advisory roles, with a preference for candidates with consulting experience.
  • Strong academic background with a degree in Engineering or Construction Management from a top-tier, well-recognized university.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation tools, and research tools.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn, enhance capabilities, and contribute to a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA from a top-tier university.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experienced in analysing project costs, schedules, and risks using industry-standard techniques and software, with proficiency in cost auditing, forensic scheduling analysis, and earned value management.
  • Experienced in providing construction dispute support, including documentation review, issue analysis, and cost/schedule assessments.
  • Familiar with digital tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
  • Familiar with Primavera and Microsoft Project.
  • Familiar with construction management software such as Oracle Unifier, Kahua, and Procore.
