The WSP St. Catharines Team is growing and has an opportunity for a early career engineer or geoscientist to join us in our Waste Management and Hydrogeological practice.  As an early career professional, you will be part of an established team of engineers and geoscientists working on a variety of landfill, aggregate and other geological/hydrogeological projects

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will participate in monitoring projects at aggregate sites, landfills and other contaminated sites; 
  • You will conduct groundwater, surface water, combustible gas and soil sampling and testing at environmental projects;
  • You will participate in drilling, test pitting and other sub-surface field investigations;
  • You will work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of technicians, geoscientists and engineers;
  • You will primarily work outdoors and will be responsible for recording, processing and analyzing field data;
  • You will participate in office tasks including but not limited to data management, analysis and interpretation of chemical, hydrogeological and geotechnical data, report preparation and other general office duties; and
  • You will follow safe work practices in accordance with our Company-wide policies and procedures in addition to site specific Health & Safety plans.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Geoscience/Geological Engineering;
  • Eligible and working toward registration as a Professional Engineer of Ontario (registered P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist of Ontario (registered P.Geo.);
  • Successful participation in projects with minimal supervision, demonstrated self-motivation;
  • Environmental / geotechnical / geo-environmental engineering field experience focusing on environmental sampling of groundwater, surface water and soil will be an asset;
  • Interested in field work and working outdoors and can travel to project sites using own vehicle;
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction contracts, and regulations; 
  • On-the-fly troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Team player with strong communication skills.
