Job Description & Qualifications

Job available in 2 locations: Birmingham,  London

About the role:

PwC UK is seeking a junior Commercial lawyer to work in its Office of General Counsel commercial team, to support the continued growth of our UK business, primarily in the consulting, technology, and managed services space. Our business has grown significantly over the past few years and we anticipate this continuing and increasing.

Our UK in-house legal team of over 50 lawyers is an experienced, well-established and supportive group of professionals, who are highly-regarded by, and well-networked to, the business, and who have strong relationships with a wide range of senior professionals in the organisation, including at Management Board level.

Our commercial team of lawyers is split between two locations. Accordingly, this role could be based either in London at our head office at 1 Embankment Place, or in Birmingham at 1 Chamberlain Square. Our team works in a hybrid way, splitting time between the office, home and client sites.

What your days will look like:

  • Review a range of client-proposed terms and conditions, producing a summary of key points for use by our more senior lawyers or risk management teams both internally to PwC and externally with a client.
  • Review agreed contracts to produce guidance notes for use by our risk management and engagement teams.
  • Review global agreements and associated guidance notes to produce UK-specific documentation for use by global account teams.
  • Respond to general legal queries from the business.
  • Provide ad hoc support to our more senior lawyers on particular projects or deals.
  • Perform other similar tasks.

This role is for you if:

  • Detailed knowledge of English Law, at least 2 years’ PQE (or equivalent) in a commercial team;
  • Good experience of advising on a range of commercial contracts;
  • Good drafting skills;
  • Ability to handle large volumes of data and text with accuracy and speed, to identify issues, and be adept at conveying issues to a non-legal audience;
  • Adaptability and an inclusive mindset that supports collaboration, teamwork and innovation;
  • Acting with integrity and taking personal responsibility for your actions;
  • Sound judgement and good influencing skills, together with the confidence to work with individuals and teams across the business; and
  • Ability to build good relationships and become a trusted advisor to the business.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.

Why Business Solutions?

Our purpose focuses on how we contribute to society, and how our business decisions can contribute to greater trust and solving important problems. In order to achieve our purpose and deliver a first-class service to our clients, we need first-class support internally. The people who power us - our internal teams - have a vital role to make sure we have all the right resources, services and technology to be the best we can be. Not all of us work directly with external clients.
