Job Description

Housing is a major growth opportunity for the Legal & General Group and is a high-profile initiative supported by the Board executive. L&G Affordable Homes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Legal & General, tasked with bringing much-needed, volume institutional equity capital to the UK social housing sector.   We are a top-10 developer of affordable homes.

We are recruiting 2 new positions to support the team as Assistant Development and Commercial Manager. Where you to support the wider regional team to source, appraise, scrutinise and contract s106, land and package deal opportunities. You will contribute to the development pipeline across the region under the direction of the Head of Development and Senior Development Manager.  One role will cover new opportunities in the Midlands region and the other across the South.

Whilst you don't necessarily need to have direct experience within development, we are seeking a pro-active, team-orientated individuals with good communication skills, who are self-motivated with an enthusiastic approach.

What you'll be doing:

  • Reporting on a day to day basis to the Senior Development Manager and working with the Finance and Operations team, you will be supporting the full and successful delivery of s106, land and package deal opportunities 
  • Undertaking business development activities in relation to the new business opportunities within the designated target area, assisting with the pricing, negotiation and contract close of schemes.
  • Supporting the team in the design, development and delivery of schemes
  • Procuring site investigations and working with the Development Managers and Senior Development Managers as part of the site acquisition feasibility stage.
  • Supporting the team in the design, development and delivery of schemes
  • Supporting the team by appointing consultants and helping to manage budgets and invoicing
  • Prospecting opportunities, appraising the schemes jointly with Finance and Operations teams, and then appraising and testing schemes in accordance with the approved investment parameters and the scrutiny processes and reporting to the Senior Development Manager, reviewing and ensuring that scheme appraisals are 100% accurate.
