Global Trainee Program for Renewables - ABB

General Information 

As an innovative company on the forefront of technology, we are looking for quality individuals who can make valuable contributions and help steer our company successfully into the future, to join our Global Trainee Program in China.

The ABB Global Trainee Program (GTP) for Renewables is designed for recent graduates who are looking for an international career in the renewable energy sector. During the Global Trainee Program you will be exposed to a variety of ABB operations in different countries (cross-functional, cross-divisional) – all of which have a positive impact on the world around us. The program comprises training in the form of hands-on working experience and “off-the-job” formal training days, making the GTP the perfect start to your career.

Tasks 

The assignments are of six months each; they include:

The first 6 months are spent at the ABB office in China. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to move to ABB’s Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland for another 6 months, where you will gain an overview of ABB’s operations and work on a more strategic level. Finally, the third assignment, which may last 6-12 months, will bring you to yet another country to gain further international experience, insights into the operational aspects of the business and increase your responsibility. After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a permanent position in one of our local units.

Your assignments will give you an insight into the following areas: 

1. Business-led collaboration

- Working in a matrix organization across multiple business units and geographies

2. Marketing and strategy

- Market forecast and segmentation

- Competitive analysis / Market intelligence

- Industry and application value chain analysis, identification of ABB gaps and potential solutions

- Identify new and enhanced customer value proposition

- Define and support the go-to-market strategy with applicable businesses and across geographies

3. Customer interaction

- Hands-on experience in a specific renewable product or technology area: support of sales and key account activities

- Active participation in the development / creation of marketing communication tools to support global messaging and educate and inform key stakeholders, external and internal

4. Personal Development: corporate mission and values, international and virtual teamwork, leadership and management skills, presentation, communication and motivational skills, innovation and creativity,

Requirements:

We are looking for individuals who meet this profile:

– Graduate with bachelor’s degree in sciences and master’s (Master of Science or equivalent) in Business and Management / Engineering management / Sustainable energy systems or similar subject

– No more than 1.5 years of relevant work experience since your Masters degree (or equivalent)

– Fluency in English (additional languages welcome)

– Global mindset, with a passion to work in diverse cultures

– Mature, balanced personality with good communication skills

– Team player who is flexible and open to new ideas

– Ambitious personality with a natural curiosity and realistic career/life goals
