HSBC: China Returns Programme

What to expect

As the leading international bank in China, HSBC is focusing on the opportunities arising from existing and emerging trade business between Mainland China and other key markets such as Hong Kong, Asia-Pacific and beyond. Our new and exciting China Returns Programme is for talented final-year students and recent graduates in the UK who have a keen interest in China and want to have a longer term career in China after the programme. During the two-year programme, you will be able to spend a majority of your time and gain experience in the UK, before returning to HSBC China for your permanent destination role as you continue your career.

During your time on the programme you’ll complete a number of rotations designed to give you the widest exposure to Commercial Banking, both in the UK and in China.

You'll discover the art of connecting with customers and how to understand – and meet – their bespoke needs. Your rotation into products such as Global Trade and Receivables Finance will introduce you to the services and financing we provide to enable importers and exporters to navigate the trade cycle. You'll also likely complete a rotation in Risk and spend time focusing on a project to broaden your strategic thinking and risk understanding.

We always have your future in mind. You will be hired by HSBC China and spend a majority of your time during the two-year period in the UK, during which you will keep in close contact with the China teams through virtual or online sessions and networking opportunities to build your understanding of the business environment in both the UK and China. Throughout the programme, we will support, guide and develop you, while our leaders will help you to be the best you can be, reflecting your interests
