RBS Operations Summer Internship - 2014 Shanghai

Title: Operations Summer Intern 

Type of Employment:  10 week internship programme 

Other reporting direct / indirect line: Assigned Buddy and Mentor

Office Location: Shanghai China 

Job Purpose: Pipeline for following year’s graduate programme 

Rotation / non-rotation: Non-rotation. Fixed Desk

Programme Overview: Interns are assigned to a team within Operations for the duration of the internship 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • You will have the opportunity to be involved in ongoing projects, gathering market data and reviewing current processes and to see how they can be improved.  You will have the opportunity to meet and work with peers and colleagues across all levels and business areas within the firm. 

  • With the knowledge gained and experienced, you will be able to develop key skills and build better organisational understanding.

  • During the 10 week internship, you will participate working on a team initiative with regard RBS’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme. 

  • Business areas: International Banking Operations

Assessment: End of internship appraisal; End of internship presentation to Line Managers 

Required Technical Skills:  Knowledge of the following is an advantage, but not a requirement:-Excel 

Required Soft Skills: Self-driven, results-oriented, excellent verbal and written English skills 

Language Skills: Fluent English and local dialect for hiring country.

  • Strong interpersonal and team skills 

  • Strong organisational skills 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English 

  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing working environment 

  • Able to offer flexibility, self starter who is action and results orientated 

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines 

  • Confident and self assured 

  • Must be attentive to detail, proactive and flexible 

  • Able to constructively challenge approaches, attitudes, where this will result in improvement and offer solutions where necessary
