Summit for Success

The conference programme for The Global Recruiter’s Asia Pacific Recruitment Summit has been announced with a keynote presentation on recruitment and employment trends scheduled from Steve Shepherd. With over 26 years’ experience in the industry, Shepherd is an Employment Market Analyst and industry Thought Leader as well as being Group Director Public Affairs at Randstad Australia. He is also the South East Asia Board Representative of Ciett. He will give the summit an overview of recruitment trends throughout the Asia Pacific region and discuss the changing nature of employment and the way people work in the region. His presentation will also include a look at some of the key issues likely to impact the recruitment industry in the coming years including, demographic and social change, the impact of regulation, the impact of technology and rise of individualism. Meanwhile, Sanjay Sharman, Partner, Assurance & Advisory Services at Deloitte Singapore will give the Summit a view into the wider economic context for the recruitment industry. The Asia Pacific is the fastest growing economic region in the world today and recruiters need to be prepared in order to engage effectively with the speed and nature of business if they are to be successful. 

On day two the Summit will be addressed by Bernie Schiemer, CEO and Founder of HRBoss. Schiemer’s intention is to offer a case study of a successful recruitment business in the region, based on his own experience having created Japan’s largest IT recruitment company and selling it to Hays in a ground-breaking deal. Schiemer will give insights into laying the foundations for growth, how to maximise expansion and the particular approach required to manage a successful business in the region.

The summit, now in its third year is the largest event of its kind in the region and is well established in the recruitment industry calendar. Visitors use this occasion to access business critical information about recruitment in the region to plan new initiatives or ensure their existing businesses enjoy ongoing success.

This year the Summit takes the theme of Asia Pacific In Focus and has been specifically designed to deliver value to recruiters keen to target particular countries. While Sanjay Sharman and Steve Shepherd will give a detailed overview of the industry, breakout sessions will concentrate on the opportunities and challenges associated with the recruitment industry on a country by country basis. These countries include some of the more established and well known markets such as Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong, but there’s also the chance to hear about the industry in Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Phillippines.
