Vodafone Ghana empowers ten female engineering graduates

Vodafone Ghana, through its Female Engineering Students Sponsorship Programme (FESSP), has inducted ten female engineering graduates from various universities into the company as part of its commitment to developing brilliant female engineering graduates from the country’s universities.

The ten will have the opportunity to kick off their careers to a great start as they will rotate through the various departments to get full exposure to the various disciplines within the telecom business. They will deliver on real time projects that impact on both the company and their customers and upon successful completion will have the opportunity to work abroad in any Vodafone operating company through Columbus, a Vodafone International Graduate Programme. 

Commenting on her experience, Miss Elorm Banini, one of the participants said, ‘I am very  excited about this unique opportunity to be developed by an international brand like Vodafone, although I studied Telecom Engineering at KNUST, I am presently working on exciting projects in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Brand and Marketing Communications. This priceless opportunity will help me develop and understand the telecommunication business from end to end.”

The Female Engineering Students Sponsorship Programme was launched in 2011 and has since developed and boosted the career of some 31 female engineering graduates with 25 of them currently employed by the telecom giant. Vodafone Ghana says over the has over the years it built a strong rand mutually beneficial relationship with the country’s leading engineering training institutions which include the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC).
