India better than Asia-Pacific on job opportunities: Survey

A large number of job seekers believe India is a good market for opportunities. In Michael Page's first ever India job confidence index for the third quarter, 2015, where over 900 respondents participated from across organizations and sectors, 41% believe that the job opportunities in India are good. This compares better than Asia Pacific, where a lower percentage (33%) of job seekers said job opportunities were good in the region.

The survey summarizes a snapshot of active job seekers and their experiences looking for work in the country. Another key finding is that as compared to only 18% of respondents who believed it will take less than a month to find a job in India, a higher percentage of millennials (29%) were of the same opinion.

Region wise, 47% respondents from Chennai said they have been looking for a job for 1-3 months.

On other counts, 49% Mumbaikars cited salary as the main motive when looking out for a new job opportunity, while 47% Delhiites said they were keen to develop new skills.

As for taking up a job abroad, Chennaiites compared better at 71% than Delhiites (59%).
