The CJ salary review is compiled exclusively for the South African workforce and HR/recruitment professionals, and is based on over 30,000 job listings on the CareerJunction website.
The review is published annually, presenting the opportunity to track year-on-year changes in market-related pay across 10 sectors in South Africa.
In 2016, most jobs covered by CareerJunction saw an increase in average salaries, with 71 of 107 careers seeing pay climb. However 36 jobs saw the average salary offered drop – by as much as 60%.
The biggest climber in salaries were for investment bankers, where a skilled employee saw offered salaries jump from a maximum of R23,058 per month to R39,659 per month.
On the other end of the scale, packers and packagers in the warehousing sector saw the biggest drop in salary offered for skilled workers – a 60% drop from R16,484 per month in 2015, to just R6,535 in 2016.
