Hiring trends to take note of if you’re studying in the UK in 2024

For employers, automated services are a way to reduce the time taken in initial searches and applications when looking for new candidates. So, when writing your resume or application form, be conscious of keywords, skills and include these so they highlight your compatibility for the role.

Remote hiring

Remote hiring is a trend that seems to be here to stay in most industries. Employers have adapted over the last few years to use remote working and practices to their advantage. This means being prepared for online interviews and remote working. Try to use this to your advantage and think about roles that may be just outside the city you live (but still commutable) to open up the areas you can look for graduate jobs. If a role requires you to be in the office for part of the week this would add flexibility to the location of your job. Skills based hiring

There has been a shift in what employers are looking for from new candidates and an increase in the importance of skills over other attributes. Tangible examples of how you could manage the role are key to success. So, to meet this demand, try to find work experience or opportunities while studying that will increase your experience in areas key to your industry.
