Programme Management - Responsibilities
       
Under the direct supervision of the Human Settlement Officer (Urban Legislation Unit), the interns will specifically assist in:

1. Assist in carrying out research and studies on a range of urban legal topics; analyse and present the data gathered from diverse sources; contribute to written outputs e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies and inputs to publications.
2. Assistance in the population and maintaining of HabLex urban law database.
3. Review and produce summaries on existing courses in urban law to support the Unit’s effort to produce training packages on urban law for local authorities.
4. Assist with the production of communication materials and updates for the Unit’s websites.
5. Assist in organizing expert group meetings, consultative and other meetings and conferences; support outreach activities;


Information Management - Responsibilities   

Under the direct supervision of the ICTS office, the intern will:

• Assist with software development testing; develop test conditions by working with the end users to develop the test sheets according to the system requirements. Ensure that provided solution meet user requirements, secure and free of errors.
• Assist with meeting support using WebEx , Go-to-meeting and other online collaboration tools.
• Assist with securing and maintaining the organization servers according to international best practices available and monitor IT services.
• Provide user support on Microsoft office, assist in computer setup, and help desk calls when required.
• Maintain and update the unit’s projects, tasks, mailing lists, and other requests from UN-Habitat.
• Assist in Asset Management and tracking of IT equipment within UN-Habitat.
• Assist in the server maintenance plan and monitor IT services.
• Any other related tasks

Education:

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a.  Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor′s level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Have a demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
